Why humanitarian response is part of our mission

IHE exists to advance the science and practice of intentional human development. Resilience, the ability of a person, a family, or a community to hold together and recover under real strain, is one of the most concrete expressions of that work. Research and education matter most when they are tested against real hardship, not only studied at a distance from it.

When a community is hit by a disaster, resilience stops being a concept and becomes a matter of clean water, first aid, and a diaper for a child who has none. Responding directly to that need, carefully and transparently, is consistent with everything else IHE does: it is applied, it is measured, and it is accountable.

Venezuela Earthquake Relief Mission

IHE is currently collecting donations to purchase and personally deliver diapers, first aid items, hygiene products, and other emergency essentials to families affected by the recent earthquake in Venezuela. Gifts designated for this mission are used only for that purpose.

How to give

IHE's online giving portal is launching soon. Until it is live, donations can be arranged directly and personally:

Email donate@ihe.institute to arrange a one-time or recurring gift.
Note in your message whether your gift should go to general operations or be restricted to the Venezuela Earthquake Relief Mission.
You'll receive a written acknowledgment of your contribution for tax purposes.
In-kind donations of relief supplies are also welcome; contact us to coordinate drop-off or shipment.

We know a direct email is not as frictionless as a checkout page. We would rather ask you to take one extra step than rush a donation platform into place before it can meet our own standards for security and transparency.

Our transparency commitment

Trust is earned through disclosure, not claimed through language. As a 501(c)(3) public charity, IHE commits to:

Public financial disclosure Annual filing of Form 990, available to any donor or member of the public on request.
Restricted-fund integrity Donations designated for a specific initiative, including the Venezuela Earthquake Relief Mission, are used only for that purpose and are not commingled with general operating funds.
Documented humanitarian spending Purchases and deliveries made under the Venezuela Earthquake Relief Mission are documented with receipts, photos, and delivery records, published to donors.
Independent oversight IHE's Independent Ethics Committee and Scientific Advisory Board have standing authority to review program and expenditure decisions.
Direct answers Any donor may ask, at any time, exactly where their contribution went. We will answer plainly.
